"Oh that men would praise the...

"Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" (Ps. 107:31.) Christian Science has given me blessings so numerous that I cannot relate them all. Because of the beautiful unfoldment of good which has come to me since my testimony appeared in the Sentinel of April 4, 1931, I should like again to say, "Thank You, God."

Through the study and application of Christian Science my daily needs have been met in every respect. I have had the great blessing of guidance in work for the Cause of Christian Science, especially in my branch church work during the three years I was First Reader. My predecessors in that office were men, and I had to overcome the strangeness that was felt over having a woman as First Reader. As I studied earnestly Mrs. Eddy's instructions to Readers and reached out to God for help, I was rewarded by this thought which came to me: "You are man." I accepted the angelic message, realizing that, generically speaking, I was indeed man. This realization brought my freedom, and ever since then I have had a better understanding of my real spiritual self.

When I suffered from an obstinate case of arthritis in my right leg, I knew that I must destroy the belief of disease in my thought. I went to work to enlarge my understanding of God's allness, and after some time the condition was completely healed. A badly burned hand was quickly healed, and on another occasion no harm occurred when my hand ran through the wringer of my electric washer. At the passing of loved ones I was able to overcome grief by understanding that, because man is spiritual, there is in reality no death.
