I am deeply grateful for Christian Science and for the great good it has unfolded to me the past thirty years. My first healing in Christian Science was an instantaneous one that came when I applied the little I knew of the truth. Some friends and I were to occupy their mountain cabin for two weeks. We left for the cabin about four o'clock in the morning. After an hour's driving I was taken with a severe headache. The higher we climbed in the mountains the worse my headache became. One of my friends, who was not a Christian Scientist, said that I would have to go home the next day on account of the high altitude. I kept on declaring the truth that as a child of God I could not suffer.

After reaching the cabin I had to go to bed. As I kept getting worse instead of better, however, I got up and went out under the big pine trees. Then I talked in this way: "I am in the atmosphere of Love divine. Father, I thank You that I know this is true." As I looked up at those beautiful trees and rejoiced in the truth of being, I was completely healed. I ran back to the cabin and told my friend that I was healed, and she rejoiced with me. We went to a dance that evening, and I had a wonderful two weeks' vacation.

Another experience I should like to relate was one of protection in a burning building. I was visiting a friend in her home. The housekeeper awakened us about three o'clock in the morning and told us to get out as soon as possible, for the house was on fire. The thought came to me that our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says on page 228 of Science and Health: "There is no power apart from God. Omnipotence has all-power, and to acknowledge any other power is to dishonor God." As I repeated this sentence I became calm and was able to help an elderly friend down the stairs, although the house was so full of smoke that we could scarcely see. We passed the large fireplace, and just as we got to the front door the wall above the fireplace caved in. As we went out I rejoiced in the protecting power of Christian Science.
