Before coming into Christian Science...

Before coming into Christian Science I belonged to an orthodox church, but I felt an inner craving for a more practical religion. It is not surprising, therefore, that when a Christian Scientist invited me to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting I accepted his invitation. I have been a student of Christian Science ever since. The vices of smoking, drinking, and gambling have left me as the result of my study of the truth. In addition I have had many physical healings and have been able to solve financial problems.

I am deeply grateful for a healing which occurred in our family. Our eldest daughter was attending a large boarding school for girls some sixty miles from us. Whilst my wife and I were on a visit to our main city, five hundred miles distant, an urgent call came, saying that our daughter was seriously ill and that our immediate return was requested.

When we returned we found that our daughter had already been conveyed to a hospital and was so ill that we were not permitted to see her. She had polio and was paralyzed on one side. She remained in that condition for four months, showing only slight improvement. The Christian Science practitioner who then took up the work requested that the child be taken home. This was done, although the authorities insisted that we have a trained nurse always in attendance and that a local doctor visit our daughter. We agreed to this provision and engaged a Christian Science nurse, who had been trained at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association on Pacific Coast, San Francisco, California.

After our daughter had been at home for a day or so the doctor called and voiced the opinion, which agreed with that of the doctors at the hospital, that no improvement was possible for about two years. My wife immediately telephoned the practitioner, who denied this opinion with statements of truth. Within five minutes there was an instantaneous healing of the girl's right hand and back. Within half an hour she arose from her bed and walked unassisted to the balcony. At noon she was with us in the dining room, having her meal with no assistance from the nurse; and she walked about for the rest of the day. The healing was complete and has been permanent.

I am most grateful to God for Christian Science and for the blessings I have gained through the previous experience of class instruction.—Claude Collingwood Bloxsome, Glen Innes, New South Wales, Australia.
