I am truly and humbly grateful...

I am truly and humbly grateful for Christian Science and for the blessings which it has brought my family and me. It was through this beautiful religion that I had a healing of pneumonia after a doctor had said that I must remain in bed for at least a month and that I would be fortunate if I was up that soon. When the doctor left I was asked if I would like to try Christian Science, and I replied that I would. A practitioner was called, and in a few hours my breathing was normal. This was on a Tuesday; on Saturday evening I telephoned the practitioner and told her that I was feeling fine and wanted to get up. She told me to do so and not to be afraid. I arose and experienced complete freedom.

I have been lovingly helped on my way by kind and patient practitioners when I needed to realize more clearly man's spiritual status and his relationship to his Father-Mother God. Class instruction greatly enlightened me and helped me to see that God is Life everlasting. This understanding aided me at the passing of my grandparents, whom I thought I could not do without.

Painless childbirth was experienced when the truths of Christian Science were applied. I knew that I must rely upon God completely and realize that He is the only creator. One Sunday morning before the arrival of our little son these words stood out clearly to me as we sang them in a hymn during the church service (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 51):
