The realization of man's oneness,...

The realization of man's oneness, or unity, with God becomes a very sacred and valuable possession at a time of a so-called dangerous experience. One Thanksgiving Day our family motored to Wisconsin to visit relatives. We drove into a blizzard on the way, but we were not far from our destination, so we continued. Our car suddenly hit an icy spot on the highway, went out of control, and landed upside down in the ditch at the side of the road. My husband and I immediately reminded each other that man, God's child, is always all right. We managed to get a door part way open, and with our two-year-old son and six-year-old daughter we were able to get out. Although the car was badly damaged, none of us suffered anything more than minor scratches and bruises.

Some people came to our aid, and we were given a ride the rest of our journey. Thanksgiving Day was spent with audible expressions of gratitude for our protection. We had no feeling of loss regarding the car at all. The insurance company had it repaired so that it was as good as new, and later we were allowed almost its original cost toward the purchase of a new car, even though the dealer was given full information regarding our experience.

Many blessings have come to our family through Christian Science, for which we are profoundly grateful. Our son was born at home, and a harmonious birth was experienced. When he was about twenty months old he awoke one night with croup. He appeared unable to breathe or sleep while lying down; so after calling a practitioner for help I held the child on my shoulder most of the night, declaring the truth and singing hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal to him. By morning he was much better, and by the second afternoon he was well and playing with his toys as usual. Our little girl was healed of appendicitis, and both children were healed of influenza and so-called childhood diseases through Christian Science.
