NOT AS A BEGGAR
Mark 10:46-52
Not
as a beggar did blind Bartimaeus
come to Christ Jesus to receive his sight,
but, casting on the ground his beggar's garment,
he ran in joyful haste to claim his right.
Not as a beggar will I seek Truth's presence—
self-pityingly imploring to be whole;
I'll drop the wretched robes of mortal selfhood
and run to claim my heritage of Soul!
