Preparatory work

One teacher in a branch church Sunday School spends hours each week in preparation for her class. She has found it helpful to include in her preparatory work the reading of everything on the subject of Sunday School teaching in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, the chapter entitled "Animal Magnetism Unmasked" from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and the full text of the Sermon on the Mount. This study, she says, expands her spiritual perception and brings increasing power and joy to the teaching because of the spiritual growth and discipline it brings to her. She sometimes has as many as fourteen little children under five years of age in her class, and they sit in quiet and joyous attention throughout the Sunday School period.
