HOW DID JESUS HEAL?

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Kent was a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School and many times had proved for himself that Christian Science heals. Now, however, error seemed to be talking to him very loudly, telling him that he had a bad cold and a high fever. Although Kent tried very hard to see that error was untrue and that he was really God's perfect child, he seemed to feel worse all the time. Finally, after he had coughed all day long, he turned to his mother and said: "I just don't understand. When Jesus healed people, they were well right away. How did Jesus do it?"

Mother said that this was a good question, but that it was such a big one that they would need to study to find the answer. She said that they needed to learn more of the Christ. Turning to page 332 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, they read, "Christ is the true idea voicing good, the divine message from God to men speaking to the human consciousness." On the next page Mrs. Eddy explains that the Christ has always come to all who were ready to receive it.

Christian Scientists, as Mother pointed out, understand that Jesus was human, but that the Christ is the true idea, the divine message, which comes to those who are willing to listen. Jesus, more than any other man who ever lived, listened to this divine message, understood it, and proved its healing power. Because the Christ filled his thought, Jesus was able to heal the sick.
