Whilst working at a Christian Science Rest Room...

Whilst working at a Christian Science Rest Room for the servicemen during the Second World War, I fell very heavily down a flight of steps and struck my head on a concrete floor. Before I reached the bottom the thought came to me, "There are no accidents in God's kingdom." After lying there for about an hour and a half in a state of unconsciousness, I revived, and the same thought came to me again, "There are no accidents in God's kingdom."

I immediately denied all symptoms of shock and pain. Being alone on the premises at the time, I was responsible for leaving everything in order and for locking the room. This I did and was able to carry out my normal duties for the rest of the day. There were no aftereffects.

I should like to tell of an experience which I hope will encourage others never to yield to error in doing their church work. Some time ago I was invited to serve as a deputy usher in a branch church. All my life I had suffered from extreme self-consciousness; so I felt reluctant about accepting. However, I undertook to carry out the duty, and in a few months I was ushering full time.
