In turning to the testimonies in...

In turning to the testimonies in our periodicals for inspiration I have been reminded that, although I have given numerous testimonies at Wednesday testimony meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, I have never expressed my gratitude in the periodicals. It is now time that I do so.

When I was thirteen years old Christian Science came into our home. After reading one page from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I knew that it was the truth, and I decided at that moment to take up the study of Science. I am very grateful to my parents for helping me attend the Sunday School until I was twenty years of age.

Through two years of active service in the Navy I was much blessed by my understanding of Christian Science, which helped me to surmount difficult situations and to experience wonderful blessings. During that time I met and married an earnest student of Christian Science, and we have had many grand experiences in bringing up our children. The older child was born very harmoniously, despite medical predictions to the contrary. Our second child was born at home under Christian Science treatment. I am very grateful for the work done by a loving practitioner and for the care of a stanch Christian Science nurse. I worked with the quotation from the Bible (I John 4:18), "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear," and knew that God would unfold His perfect work. The baby was born about midnight. I slept until about eight o'clock in the morning. Then I arose and had breakfast with the family. Not a single day was spent in bed.
