THE TRUE WAY OF SALVATION

Everyone is interested in his own salvation. It is a natural and normal thing; for suffering humanity to yearn for a state of Well-being. Who does not desire more permanent health and a greater degree of happiness? Hence mankind's continual searching. In the longing for something more satisfactory in life than sickness and disease, mortals turn to various methods and systems of healing. Those who seek the scientific, method that was exemplified by Christ Jesus, and is set forth in Christian Science, have found the true way of salvation.

After many years of searching the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy had revealed to her the divine law demonstrated in Jesus' healings. In the utilization of this law she recognized a scientific method whereby salvation from error can be experienced here and now. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," under the marginal heading "The one divine method," Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 344), "There are various methods of treating disease, which are not included in the commonly accepted systems; but there is only one which should be presented to the whole world, and that is the Christian Science which Jesus preached and practised and left to us as his rich legacy." She then asks, "Why should one refuse to investigate this method of treating disease?"

Does someone feel that he has strayed too far from God ever to experience salvation? Or does he ask, "How can I turn from disease which has been part of my body so long?" Christian Science teaches that God is the only Mind—infinite and supreme. As we demonstrate this Mind as the source of our thoughts, evil suggestions are proved unreal. Hear the exhortation of the prophet Jeremiah to his people (Lam. 3:40), "Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord."
