The testimony of my healing of almost total deafness appeared in The Christian Science Journal of May, 1922. I am happy to say that this healing has remained permanent. Merely to say that I am grateful for Christian Science would be an inadequate statement, as this religion means everything to me. It is leading me steadily along the path from the darkness of material sense into the light of spiritual understanding.

After many years as an active Christian Scientist, I was faced with a problem which seemed unyielding. Eventually I had to give up the work to which I had devoted many years, my home was broken up, and I suffered physical and mental prostration, even to the point of attempting self-destruction. Gradually, however, through the help at different times of faithful practitioners the problem was solved. I now have a happy home and am in good health, mentally and physically. About two years ago I was able to resume the work I had been forced to give up.

During the time of this difficulty I resumed the smoking habit, from which Science had freed me nearly twenty years before. This relapse did not long continue, however, when I realized the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 442 of the textbook. Science and Health, "An improved belief cannot retrograde." and I have been entirely free from any desire for tobacco for a number of years.
