POSITIVE THINKING

Much is being written about positive and negative thinking. But in Christian Science we learn that only those thoughts which originate in God, divine Mind, have power.

People also are reading the Bible, and some are endeavoring to use its statements of truth in their daily lives. But to do this they must know, as Jesus did, that God is Love. If they rely on the Bible words (Phil. 4:13), "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me," they must know that the Christ does only good. Therefore the things which they wish to do must be good and must not be done selfishly to the detriment of another. God is infinite Truth; therefore positive thoughts must be of such a nature as to coincide with the truth that blessings are always present and good is always available.

If we have not reached the spiritual height where we can quickly see the absolute truth of any situation, we can use the statements of truth which are found in numerous quantity in the Bible and also in the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. All of these statements were written for our understanding and use. The Apostle John wrote (1:1), "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." We can speak the Word of God, and the Word of God heals. Jesus said (Matt. 10:20), "It is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you."
