THE DIVINE EGO OR FATHER

When the revelation of Deity as "I AM THAT I AM" (Ex. 3:14) came to Moses, it gave him the understanding that good is the only reality. This equipped him with the divine power which enabled him to deliver his people from bondage.

The realization that God is self-existent Life, the one intelligence, or Ego, destroys the belief in evil. The more we turn to the fact that the one Mind, the one Life, is good, the more fearless we become. This realization of the Ego as infinite good enables us to see that there is no life in anything which is not good. That which has no life certainly has no power. When confronted with something which seems to have reality but is not good, we can declare that since God, infinite good, is Life, there is actually only the activity of good. The understanding of this fact annuls the seeming activity of evil. Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who so often proved the powerlessness of evil, says (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 189), "For man to know Life as it is, namely God, the eternal good, gives him not merely a sense of existence, but an accompanying consciousness of spiritual power that subordinates matter and destroys sin, disease, and death."

All discordant beliefs can be destroyed by the realization that the one Ego is the all-harmonious Principle, infinite good. Take, for instance, the beliefs of nervousness and lack of control. Comprehending that the only Ego, or Life, is Spirit, we see that it is not to matter but to Mind that we must look for action, control, and feeling. And since Life is perfect, there is only perfect spiritual action and feeling. In reality we have no other sense of being.
