Several years before I was married...

Several years before I was married a childhood friend of my mother's, who was a student of Christian Science, healed me of a nervous condition so extreme that I could not sleep at night. After my healing it was as if the nervous condition had never been.

I did not take up the study of Christian Science, however, until some years later. Since then I have learned much about God as the only Mind. Jesus said (Matt. 7:7), "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." I have done these things, and as a result, all of my family have benefited from Christian Science.

When my son was about eight years old he had a severe case of measles. A member of the family insisted on calling a doctor, who said there was evidence of pneumonia. If the condition became worse, I was to call him again, he said. It was not necessary to call him, because through my understanding of Christian Science and the boy's trust in God the disease was quickly healed. Several months later, through circumstances beyond my control, the son had a chest examination, given by means of a fluoroscope. I was present at the examination. When the doctor looked through the fluoroscope he called me to see a spot where new lung tissue had formed. He said that this indicated a most beautiful healing.
