"THE SIMPLICITY THAT IS IN CHRIST"

We are exhorted by the Apostle Paul not to forget the simplicity that is in Christ. He says (II Cor. 11:3), "I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." The apostle did not regard the subject of the Christ as difficult to understand, but warned his hearers that the serpent, the opposer of Truth, would endeavor to persuade them that it was so.

Our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, reveals the meaning of the Christ in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Christian Science is not a theory, but the discovery of fundamental truth. Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health, p. 107), "In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science."

The Science of Christ is so simple that a child can demonstrate it, and yet it is so profound that it occupies the attention of the sage. The belief that Christian Science is difficult to understand should be recognized as the attempt of animal magnetism to deprive one of the Christ and so shut him out from its healing influence.
