Over a period of years I have...
Over a period of years I have witnessed the healing through Christian Science of many types of disease and the adjustment of numerous and varied inharmonious situations; so I am most grateful for this opportunity to express my gratitude for Mary Baker Eddy and the Science she discovered.
My first healing in Christian Science was of appendicitis, a condition for which physicians said there was no remedy other than surgery. A neighbor heard of the family's predicament and came offering us Christian Science. A practitioner was called, and within a few days I had completely recovered and was again in school. The surgeon had told us that though I might possibly survive this particular attack without surgery, I could not hope to be free from the condition without the operation which he prescribed. This healing occurred about forty years ago, and there has not been the least evidence of a recurrence of the difficulty.
Another outstanding healing was of a bronchial cough, for which I had previously received much medical treatment and had been sent in vain from place to place with the thought that climate and rest would prove of benefit. More recently I was healed of a skin infection. This disease persisted for about three months. One day a Christian Science friend, seeing my need, suggested that we drive into the country and find a quiet spot where we might read and talk without interruption. This we did. For three hours we read from Mrs. Eddy's writings and talked of God and His perfect creation as it is described in the first chapter of Genesis. The following morning I awakened perfectly healed. My thought had been so alerted to the fact of the allness, goodness, and absolute perfection of God and His creation that all sense of disease vanished from my consciousness and in consequence from my experience.
