My expression of gratitude for...

My expression of gratitude for Christian Science and its healing ministry was published in The Christian Science Journal in July, 1914. The healings there mentioned have proved to be permanent, and the seed sown in a young and receptive mind by a consecrated Christian Science teacher has multiplied and borne much good fruit throughout these wonderful years of unfoldment. I have never wavered in my explicit faith in God's allness and power, and this faith has sustained me through many deep waters.

Through the help of a practitioner, my son was born under most harmonious conditions. He grew to young manhood with few of the so-called childhood diseases. When any inharmony did arise it was met quickly and permanently. I am most grateful that he attended the Christian Science Sunday School until his twentieth birthday, for this was a governing influence in his becoming a worthy and useful citizen.

Soon after the passing of my husband, my son entered the service during World War II. I did not feel any sorrow or loss regarding his father after the first few days following his passing, nor did I feel any separation from the son during his many months in the Pacific. I clearly felt God's protection for him, which was evidenced by his safe return. Both these experiences would have been much different had I not had an understanding of God's nearness and love.

In my family physical inharmonies such as scarlet fever, tonsillitis, smallpox, influenza, inflammatory rheumatism, and acute indigestion have been quickly and completely healed. Business and financial problems have been beautifully solved, and each step has been one of progress through the realization that as an idea of God I reflect wisdom, intelligence, and understanding. As Jesus said (John 5:17), "My Father worketh hitherto, and I work."

I am grateful for the practitioners who have helped me to experience the sustaining care and love of God throughout the years. And I thank God that Mrs. Eddy acquaints us through her writings with the Christ, Truth, as exemplified by Jesus. My prayer is that all may experience such blessings as I have had.—(Mrs.) Estella Reed Cunningham, Huntington Park, California.
