Christian Science has dispelled the doubts that assailed my childhood regarding the existence of Deity. This Science came into my experience while I lived in a rooming house where the other roomers were Christian Scientists. I had been suffering from ulcers of the stomach, and a major operation had been advised as my only means of relief. When I told my troubles to a young man who had a room next to mine, he asked me whether I had considered help in Christian Science. I had heard very little of Science; but I told him that if he would care to help me, I would be glad to have him do so, as I had been unable to sleep for several nights because of pain. After he had treated me in Christian Science that night, I had my first restful sleep in a long time. As I talked with him the next day, he gave me very comforting statements. I said to him, "You seem very sure of what you are saying." He replied, "I have every reason to be sure, because I have proof of what I am saying."

I have found that my own later experience has afforded me the same kind of proof of which he spoke. After purchasing a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I began a daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. I was speedily cured of the stomach ulcers and began to experience the best health of my life.

A period of more than thirty years has intervened since then, and during that time many rich experiences have been enjoyed. Buoyant health has been manifested without the employment of any material remedies. Two cases of instantaneous healing experienced in our family stand out, and I should like to relate them.
