Activities for the Armed Services

[The following accounts of experiences of service personnel have been received by Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services and are now shared with the Field.]

South Carolina—Glasses laid off

A serviceman in the Army had worn glasses since childhood. Having recurrent headaches, he asked the Christian Science Minister at his installation for treatment. The serviceman queried whether he should have the lenses of his glasses checked to see if he needed a new prescription. Turning to divine Mind for a reply, the Minister and the serviceman pondered the definition of "eyes" as given by Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 586): "Spiritual discernment,— not material but mental."

Several days after this discussion, the serviceman told the Minister that his exes had been re-examined and that his sight was pronounced excellent. There was no return of headaches and no further need for the glasses.
