In deepest gratitude for the many healings I have experienced and witnessed over a period of thirty-nine ears I give this testimony. That "the word of God is quick, and powerful" (Hebr. 4:12) has been proved to me many times through these years.

At the time I turned to Christian Science all hope of material aid was gone. I was helpless, unable to turn over or even lift a hand. I had been in that condition for seven months and had been ill for over five years. Many material means of healing had been tried, without results. With bowels that finally became completely inactive and a stomach that would not retain even liquid food for more than ten minutes, I was given but a short time to live. Almost every organ in my body except the lungs appeared to be affected.

My last doctor, one of many I had during those five years of invalidism, brought me some copies of the Sentinel that had been placed on his office table by one of the workers on a Christian Science literature distribution committee. He told my sister to read them to me and said, "It's good positive reading that can't hurt her and might comfort her."
