Fifteen years ago I turned to...

Fifteen years ago I turned to Christian Science as a last resort for our baby boy, who was suffering from a severe navel hernia. The pediatrician on the case had said he could operate in three years, but until then the child would have to wear a support. Meanwhile the condition was growing worse, and my fear was great.

I had studied Christian Science intermittently before the child's birth and had told myself that I would try it sometime. With this problem I felt that the time had come. The practitioner to whom I told my trouble seemed confident, and I went home fully expecting a healing. When it did not come in three or four days I returned to the practitioner much discouraged. "Your baby will be healed," she said. I realized that I must in some manner show my willingness to turn things over to God. When I was home again, the thought came to remove the support which the child had been wearing. This I did with much trepidation, but afterward I felt a great sense of peace. In about two days the healing was complete.

Before the birth of our second son I was informed that it would be a breech presentation. I had been staying close to Truth, and when this problem presented itself I studied this passage in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 301): "Delusion, sin, disease, and death arise from the false testimony of material sense, which, from a supposed standpoint outside the focal distance of infinite Spirit, presents an inverted image of Mind and substance with everything turned upside down."
