"To those leaning on the sustaining...

"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (Science and Health, Pref., p. vii). In these words our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, gives the student of Christian Science a guiding rule to follow. Since Christian Science came into my experience when I was a young child, there are many fruitful years behind me. My mother's testimony, telling of my earlier healings, appeared in The Christian Science Journal for May, 1936. Two years later she passed on, and I can truthfully state that the peace and comfort which were mine could have come only from a power far beyond any human source. I shall never cease to be grateful for this divine help.

Our two daughters were born under Christian Science treatment, and both have had the opportunity of attending the Christian Science Sunday School. The younger girl, while on a trip with several other students, was involved in a serious automobile accident. According to the insurance company, the car was a total loss. The young people were all removed to a local hospital, but although our daughter was in a state of shock, she was able to maintain a firm stand for Principle. She refused medical assistance, affirming man's present perfection, and asked only that her parents be notified.

When I arrived by plane some hours later, I found that the attending physician, appreciating the situation, had asked a local Christian Science practitioner to come to the girl's side. This practitioner told me that she had not done any work as she knew that I would have already asked for help from another practitioner, but she and the child together had claimed God's presence and omnipotence.
