Christian Science was first...

Christian Science was first brought to my attention in 1902, when, at the invitation of a friend, who later became my wife, I attended my first service in a Church of Christ, Scientist. I was impressed by the simple, peaceful service, and after my marriage I attended steadily. Through the help of my wife I was quickly healed of a curvature of the spine, from which I had suffered for six years. I have since been able to do heavy work without any difficulty whatever.

In further proof of God's presence and power I have had healings of influenza and burns, as well as of resentment, malice, and a bad temper. Social drinking and smoking have been overcome. While these were wonderful experiences, for which I am deeply grateful, yet far more important to me are the spiritual uplift and the realization that in God "we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts 17:28).

I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, as well as for service in the latter as First Reader, a member of the board of directors, a Sunday School teacher, and an usher. A visit to The Mother Church was an inspiration never to be forgotten, and it resulted in the healing of a serious ear condition which had persisted for about two years. How I thank our Father-Mother God for Christian Science and for His faithful servant, our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, without whom we would not have had this healing truth revealed to us. Class instruction and our annual association meetings are much appreciated and have gone far to mark my journey spiritward.—Levi M. Horton, San Gabriel, California.
