THE AFFIRMATIONS OF TRUTH

In her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, makes this important observation (p. 418): "Truth is affirmative, and confers harmony. All metaphysical logic is inspired by this simple rule of Truth, which governs all reality. By the truthful arguments you employ, and especially by the spirit of Truth and Love which you entertain, you will heal the sick."

The affirmation of Truth in Christian Science is something more than a humanly mental declaration of metaphysical fact. To be spiritually effective it must be seen as Truth's very presence and evidence. It is Truth's instant expression of its own truthfulness and reality. There is no element of time or delay involved in Truth's appearing. Truth affirms its own allness, is the consciousness of eternal perfection, and shows forth the instant evidence of that fact.

Truth is triumphant because it can never be anything else. To Truth there is no possibility of anything other than absolute certainty. Truth's infinitude expresses its own perfection to everything in the universe of Truth, and every individual idea manifests that divine perfection. When Truth, or the truth of being, is spiritually known and acknowledged, there can be no conscious evidence other than that of perfection.
