Christian Science was presented to me by a friend who had been healed of chronic constipation. This healing had been accomplished through Christian Science overnight. I was much impressed, but was not ready for this religion at that time.

Many years later the seed of Truth my friend had planted began to grow. I had been told that the birth of my baby would be very difficult, and I was frightened and alone. Then I began recalling the things my friend had told me. The little understanding which I had gained that God is Love and that He cared for me and would sustain me was enough to carry me through. Much to everyone's surprise, the birth was painless. No medicine of any nature was administered.

Later I found myself in serious trouble again. I was very weak and ill with influenza and was suffering from what I believed to be a rupture, although I was never examined for it. My condition was so serious that I thought I was going to pass on. I borrowed a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from a Christian Science Reading Room and bought a Christian Science Quarterly.
