THE WINGS OF TRUTH

Christian! Sturdy word of light and freedom,
Activity of Truth and Life and Love!
How plain the Master made the Christian way
By mighty deeds of healing majesty,
The law and grace of omnipresent good!
But still there seems to be the heavy mist,
The Adam-dream of self apart from God,
A self that dreams of hidden, haunting fear,
Of joy or pain, timidity or pride,
Of health or sickness, poverty or wealth,
Of crowning peace or tragedies of war.
This enmity against one living God
Is aimed to weigh the wings of Truth to earth.
But now, through one who knew and loved the Christ,
Has come to us the promised Comforter.
Science! With Principle divine it lights
The Christian's way omnisciently and clears
The mist—the myth of Adam-ignorance—
Revealing Mind, the all-inclusive One,
And man the full expression of this One,
Awake, alert, his faculties aware
Of Mind's supremacy, which he reflects.
In glad obedience and willing joy
One purifies his thought of self and sense.
He claims dominion as joint heir with Christ
And finds at hand the sacred wings of Truth.
Thus freed of fear he lives, well-loved of Love.
Christian Science! These two the almighty God
Has joined together, and no power exists
To put asunder their omnipotence,
Unbalance their true wings, or yet to cloud
The kingdom of Love's heaven on the earth.
Rejoice! Be glad! The wings of Truth are free.
