Bless the Lord, O my soul, and...

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases" (Ps. 103:2, 3). Like the Psalmist of old, I want to express my gratitude to God for all the benefits I have received.

When a child I was subject to many ailments. My parents tried many remedies for me. including drugs, so-called drugless cures, and a change of climate; but relief was only temporary. For a short time after I married, my health improved; but later I suffered most of the time. After a thorough examination a doctor diagnosed my case as that of a fibroid tumor and advised an immediate operation. His advice was followed; but in six months my suffering returned, and it was accompanied by insomnia.

At this point I grew very much discouraged and prayed almost constantly to God to restore my health. Our family physician casually remarked one day that he thought Christian Science was the most practical religion and that he knew it healed, for he had witnessed the healing of an incurable eye disease of one of his former patients. From that moment I could not get Christian Science out of my mind.
