In our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy states (p. 66), "Trials are proofs of God's care." When I first read this statement I could not understand how trials could be proofs of God's care, but having been beautifully sustained by Truth during several trying experiences, I am grateful to say that I now understand this statement by our dear Leader.

While serving as Second Reader in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, during the last month of my term I was able to eat and retain very little food. Mortal mind suggested that I would not be able to be at my post twice each Sunday; but as I accepted the reminder from the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 201), "Truth will be your food," and realized that my heavenly Father was feeding and sustaining me, I was able to be about my Father's business. Shortly after I finished my term as Reader the healing was completed through the help of a Christian Science practitioner.

After one very dear to me passed on suddenly I again had proof of God's care and gained a clearer understanding of the allness of Life, as well as of the oneness, or unity, of God and His ideas. There has been no sense of loss or separation. By his resurrection and ascension our dear Master, Christ Jesus, proved that there is no reality in death or in matter, but that all is spiritual and eternal. This fact has been a great help to me.
