"I sought the Lord, and he heard...

"I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate" (Ps. 34:4, 22). This promise has been fulfilled in my experience.

Some years ago I was an employee of a western railroad, serving in the capacity of switch foreman. Every two years the employees were required to undergo a physical examination. On one such occasion I was told that I had high blood pressure and leakage of the heart. A little later it was suggested that I go to the general hospital for a final checkup.

As I recall, there was no fear manifested, for through my understanding of Christian Science God had been my only physician for years, and He had healed me on previous occasions. However, I realized that I must do some constructive thinking. Consulting the Bible, I found this admonition in Proverbs (3:5, 6): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
