"WISDOM CRIETH AT THE GATES"
In Christian Science the human equation is never ignored. Indeed, the blessed activity of the Christ is always seen in its practical application of divine and absolute facts to human experience. The understanding and realization that man as Mind's idea is the reflection of infinite wisdom, intelligence, and perspicacity should make one do the wisest human thing and take the most intelligent human footsteps. If he made no actual efforts to secure his orders, no salesman would prove very successful, however sincere he might be in his study of Christian Science.
The scientific understanding of man's true being expresses itself in the demonstration of alertness, keenness, spontaneity, and other mental qualities which greatly aid the businessman. Referring to this, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 128): "The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to His government of the universe, inclusive of man. From this it follows that business men and cultured scholars have found that Christian Science enhances their endurance and mental power, enlarges their perception of character, gives them acuteness and comprehensiveness and an ability to exceed their ordinary capacity." And she continues, "A knowledge of the Science of being develops the latent abilities and possibilities of man."
Poverty is really the expression of impoverished thinking, whereas true wealth is abundant spiritual thinking. Even in a human way we may say of a capable individual, "He is a man of ideas," meaning that he is alert and expressive of intelligent and progressive business concepts. An individual with constructive, right ideas need never lack, because he possesses enriching thoughts. And of course when the divinely mental nature of man is recognized and claimed, we see that there is in reality no one who is not forever one with ideas, since ideas or thoughts constitute man's entire entity or being—the infinite idea forever developing and showing forth more and more of the might and glory of infinite Mind.
