Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Bellows Falls, Vermont (Society).

Christian Science Society, Bellows Falls, held two dedication services last Sunday in their new church home, one following the regular Sunday morning service and the other at 3.30 p.m. At each service a brief history of the church was read.

The first public interest in Christian Science in Bellows Falls became manifest in 1906, services being held in private homes for some years. In 1928 the group was recognized as a society by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Sunday services and Sunday School continued to be held in various places, including the Odd Fellows Hall, Woman's Club rooms, and at 3A School Street. In April, 1950, a Reading Room was established.

In 1951 the society incorporated and purchased the Clark Bowen residence at 39 School Street. The residence has now been completely transformed into a church with a free public Reading Room in the same building. Dedication was made possible last Sunday because the church recently paid off its remaining debts.
