CONTROL THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO LAW

God's plan for His children is infinite good. His law is supreme. By learning obedience to this law of good, mankind can prove that there is no period or circumstance outside His control.

Nineteen centuries ago Christ Jesus taught and demonstrated God's love and infinite goodness to man. Today Christian Science reveals the true nature of man and his relationship to God, his creator. It teaches that God is Father-Mother, divine Principle, Love, the only creator, and that man is His child, image, or idea. It provides the rules for proving the established unity of God and man.

God is ever providing all good for His children. Receptiveness to that good is achieved by mankind through prayer. One rule which Christ Jesus gave regarding prayer was (Matt. 6:6), "When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." On page 15 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy explains Jesus' instruction as follows: "The closet typifies the sanctuary of Spirit, the door of which shuts out sinful sense but lets in Truth, Life, and Love." On the same page she also says, "In the quiet sanctuary of earnest longings, we must deny sin and plead God's allness."
