When first I was growing in the...

When first I was growing in the understanding of Christian Science, after the passing of a dear one, I learned a very helpful and valuable lesson, which has blessed me all the years since. I was resentful and sorrowful. While I was having some dental work attended to, the dentist kept saying, "Such an acid condition, so much acid!" At last I looked up the definition of the word acid in the dictionary and found it very helpful. One meaning given was: "Figuratively, sour tempered." I immediately recognized that I needed to express more love, and I longed to gain the spirit of Christ. For some time I worked to this end, and never again did the dentist mention acid, nor has the prediction come true that I would lose all my teeth. Indeed, because of God's law of preservation, I am thankful that I have never lost a tooth. I have been to several dentists, and they all have declared that my teeth are in excellent condition.

Later on in my experience I was attacked by a rheumatic condition and again refreshed my thought with the healing consciousness of Love, and I was almost instantaneously healed, before anyone else was even aware of the difficulty.

We have had many healings in the family. A sister was healed of epilepsy in its severest form. She had often been in a coma for days, but was healed in one treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. Because she accepted the truth as a little child, she never had a recurrence. This healing took place over fifty years ago.
