Christ Jesus said (Matt. 11:28), "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Christian Science says, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, Pref., p. vii). Truthfully I can say my days are big with blessings, for I am learning to lean more and more on "the sustaining infinite."

At the age of nine months I was stricken with what was said to be double pneumonia and whooping cough. The faithful family physician who was attending me finally gave up the case and said he despaired of my life. A neighbor who was a Christian Science practitioner and a loyal friend of the family, having heard that the doctor had given up the case, asked if she might take me to her home and treat me in Christian Science. Mother, who was desperate, said, "Yes, if you think you can help her." A few hours later she brought me back, an entirely well baby. When my father came home that evening I was playing with my toys, a normal, healthy child.

At that time my mother was suffering from what the physicians called articular rheumatism and was steadily growing worse. She had reached the stage where a day and a night nurse were necessary, as she was practically helpless, being unable to feed or dress herself and hardly able to rise from her bed. Specialists had been called in and much money spent on remedies, only to have this verdict pronounced: "There is no hope. We have done all we can."
