When the truths of God and man...

When the truths of God and man were first presented to my thought I was so bound by affliction that I had to be carried to the Christian Science Sunday School and waited on by members of my family. For five years I had been almost totally paralyzed by polio. Since I began the study of Christian Science useful activity has become evident, and my gratitude for the spiritual understanding that brought this blessing is boundless.

The realization that God is Father-Mother and that man is His expressed image restored the use of limbs; useless muscles became active in service to others. Learning that our closest companions are our thoughts and improving the quality of my thinking brought about happy relations both in business and in social affairs. Following the passing of both of my parents, Truth's unfoldment resulted in a peaceful and happy home for me. The desire to help and happify someone else brought help and happiness to me.

At one time I was compelled to make a determined prayerful effort to heal myself of deafness. While I was at work one day all sound became lost to me. Two people besides myself were dependent on my salary, and I decided to try Christian Science before giving up my position. For three days the truth was persistently declared. The fact that man could hear what God was saying, even if there were no physical ears, was affirmed. Since good is constantly being imparted to man, true thoughts can never be closed out of consciousness. The suggestion that I had not enough understanding to heal the condition was denied.
