In recounting my blessings I always...

In recounting my blessings I always remember how my mother bccame interested in Christian Science many years ago. She was so impressed with the healing in Christian Science of her friend's daughter of a mental illness that she threw away all the medical remedies she had in the house and began to study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I was quite young at the time, but I could see that she worried less and became happier and healthier. When she passed on at seventy-three she had not worn glasses for several years and had excellent teeth. I shall always be grateful for the comfort, peace, and happiness Science gave her.

My first experience in Christian Science was the healing of a felon. My finger was swollen, and the condition appeared to be quite alarming. There was also the thought that the finger should be lanced. Help was asked for from a friend who is a Christian Scientist, and her confidence that the work being done would bring a healing was very assuring to me. There was no apparent improvement for a day or two, but the pain had ceased. Then one morning I found that the felon had opened and drained during the night. I had no more trouble with the finger. During childhood nearly every spring I had a bilious attack, sometimes accompanied by chills and fever; but after we came into Christian Science the attacks no longer occurred.

I felt from my first reading of Science and Health that Christian Science contained the answer to every problem, and I saw many proofs of this fact in our family. My sister was healed of inflammatory rheumatism and a severe case of blood poisoning. I recall healings of influenza, colds, and indigestion and saw improvement in all directions.
