JOINING THE MOTHER CHURCH

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

Well known to the writer is a young boy whose foresight and innermost desires led him to become a member of The Mother Church. Among the many benefits he derived after he had begun earnestly to undertake special preparation for this important forward step were the healing of crossed toes, marked progress in his studies, and the successful passing of examinations.

His experience may lead young Christian Scientists to ask: "Why and when should one join The Mother Church? What are the blessings, rights, and responsibilities of membership?"

One may counter with another question, "What is the position of one who knows something of the truths of Christian Science and has experienced healing through it, but fails to honor Mary Baker Eddy for her courageous stand in establishing the Christian Science movement?" In other words, one has to decide whether he is going to attempt to make use of Christian Science and yet not be willing to align himself completely with it through the organization established by Mrs. Eddy, or whether, by becoming a member of The Mother Church, he will help to bring its healing to others and at the same time experience its guiding, sustaining, and enriching influence himself.
