[Original testimony in German]

The doctrine of a God who comprehends...

The doctrine of a God who comprehends evil as well as good and who made man out of the dust of the ground as well as in His image seemed to me so contradictory and unbelievable that I longed for something higher and more absolute. Even in my childhood I desired to find a remedy that would heal all the sufferings of my fellow men.

Some fifteen years ago I made the acquaintance of a Christian Science practitioner. Immediately I felt that this person knew the truth for which I was searching. This first contact with Christian Science freed me instantaneously from the smoking habit, and at the same time every desire for alcoholic drinks disappeared.

I began to study carefully the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. A disposition to catch cold, which, according to a medical verdict, was incurable, disappeared. I learned to understand that I was not the man "whose breath is in his nostrils," but the beloved child of God. Furthermore, it became clear to me that God, Love, never punishes us for doing right, but that He made man in His own image.
