Words can never express how grateful I am for the better understanding of God and man that I have gained through the study of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

About three years ago while I was doing some washing, my hand became caught in the wringer of the washing machine. I was not familiar with the operation of the machine, and by the time I got my hand free it was quite limp. I immediately turned away from the picture presented by the material senses and tried to reach a Christian Science practitioner by telephone to ask for help. I was unable to reach one, so I felt that here was an opportunity for me to prove God's omnipotence.

I pondered carefully and understandingly the following sentences from "the scientific statement of being," found on page 468 of Science and Health: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all;" and also what Mrs. Eddy says of man (ibid., p. 475).
