In 1949 I met a friend whom I had not seen for fifteen years, and he spoke to me of Christian Science. He had been in the United States during World War II, and he told me of the activity of Christian Science in that country, Since then I have learned more about this Science, have bought the writings of Mary Baker Eddy and pondered them, and now know the way in which I wish to advance, already seeing something of the comforting light toward which I am being led.

This religion fulfills all my aspirations and answers the numerous questions I had asked myself for years. I had searched for something better and higher, but was never fully satisfied until I knew about Christian Science. I have found a refuge from all ills. Through Science I have learned that God is my strength and my shield, and I shall never cease to thank Him for having led me to this religion.

For a year in my office there was a very inharmonious relationship between the head of the department and me. My position was very difficult, especially because I was not willing to argue humanly; instead I tried to use my understanding of Christian Science and to express meekness, long-suffering, love. I was very unhappy, however, and often when leaving the office I had to make a great effort to shake hands with this person without bad thoughts in my heart. Nevertheless. I continued to pray and to maintain that she was in reality God's child. I also had the help of a dear practitioner, to whom I am very thankful.
