TO A NAVY CHAPLAIN
Yours
was a calm, deep trust in God
that rested in spiritual grace;
yours was a healing faith—a love
that embraced and uplifted the race.
Mine was an anguished search for light
which would lead to a power that healed:
you spoke the words that guided my thought
to a peace the Christ revealed.
Yours were the words about God's child,
who lives in harmonious good;
mine was a sudden release from fear—
a freedom in Truth understood.
