MAN'S HIGH DESTINY

Today there is much uncertainty, doubt, and speculation expressed as to the future of mankind and nations. One must turn to the Bible and the spiritual interpretation of it as given in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to become convinced that there is a realm of spiritual reality which cannot be destroyed, where God is ever-present good and man, His image and likeness, is untouched by matter, evil, sin, and disease. In Isaiah we read (45:11–13): "Thus saith the Lord, ... I have made the earth, and created man upon it. ... I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways." And a gentle, wise prophet of modern times, Mrs. Eddy, says in her book "No and Yes" (p. 46), "Man has a noble destiny; and the fullorbed significance of this destiny has dawned on the sick-bound and sin-enslaved."

Christian Science has revealed "the full-orbed significance of this destiny" by pointing out that good alone is real. Understanding God, good, as infinite, All, reduces matter, disease, sin, and evil to the realm of unreality. They are falsities; and as mankind ceases to believe in them and fear them and turns wholly to spiritual intelligence for help, healing, guidance, and protection they disappear from consciousness and experience.

With the understanding that the so-called carnal mind is the source of all sin, disease, and death and that the divine Mind is the source of all life, health, and holiness, the comforting assurance dawns that one's destiny, as the son of God, is to experience only the good established by infinite Love. This good is not conditional upon matter or death; it is ever present and all-powerful, waiting only to be perceived and demonstrated.
