I have had some very beautiful...
I have had some very beautiful healings through Christian Science; some were instantaneous, others took varying degrees of time to work out. Whilst I realize one should expect to receive the quick release from discordant conditions which Jesus exemplified for us, still I cannot help expressing deep gratitude for the spiritual growth and the overcoming of faults of character that have resulted from faithful study when difficulties were not quickly healed. I have proved and am proving more assuredly every day that as my thinking dwells more consistently on spiritual things I find increased peace and harmony in my daily experience. Truly, as we seek first the kingdom of God, health, peace, and harmony are the outcome—the things that are added unto us.
From the countless blessings and healings I have received through Christian Science during the past twenty-seven years I have selected one which may prove helpful to someone who is standing on the brink of a decision either to put his trust in God or to resort to material means. For some considerable time an ugly growth was apparent on one of my eyelids. I had been endeavoring to work out the problem through my own understanding of Christian Science, but without success. Eventually the eye was so affected that I was unable to continue at my office, and as it was in a government concern, a doctor's certificate was necessary for leave of absence. It was then that I decided to seek the help of a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly took up the work.
Upon my visiting the eye specialist in order to secure the requisite certificate he told me the growth could not be removed without a surgical operation. That interview took place over nine years ago, but I well recall my thoughts at the time in taking my stand for Truth. I resolved to seek first the kingdom of God, whatever the consequences might be. No operation was performed. The practitioner continued her loving work, with the result that in a very short time the growth disappeared, and I returned to my work.
