I suffered from a severe form of asthma for more than twenty-five years before I heard of Christian Science through a friend. At first I was reluctant to learn anything about the teachings of this Science, but after some persuasion by this friend my husband and I attended a Christian Science lecture. I did not understand what I heard, but felt that something important had come into my life.

Finally, on the advice of the doctor who was attending me, but who was unable to help me, I went to see a Christian Science practitioner. She worked for me selflessly and expressed the greatest possible kindness. Through her I gained an insight into Science and read the textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. A whole new world opened up to me, and I thought how wonderful it is to know even a little of Truth. I attended Sunday services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings and was greatly uplifted.

Although I did not expect to be healed of my illness, I discovered after a short time that I could breathe easily and that the painful attacks had ceased. In connection with this healing I recall the words of Paul (Rom. 12:2), "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." It was necessary for me to change my way of thinking, and again and again I had to struggle against former erroneous beliefs.
