Christian Science has been my only means of healing for more than thirty years, and it has never failed to meet my needs when I have turned to it completely. Much joy has come to me from reading the testimonies in our periodicals, and I give the following experience in the hope that it may encourage and bless others.

A physical difficulty started with a great sense of weakness which mortal mind argued was due to overwork and exhaustion, but actually I was suffering because I had failed to "stand porter at the door of thought" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy, p. 392). One night I reached the telephone in a sweat of fear and told a practitioner that I was becoming unconscious. She immediately replied, "Man has no separate consciousness from God," and she quoted Mrs. Eddy's words (ibid., p. 427), "Man's individual being can no more die nor disappear in unconsciousness than can Soul, for both are immortal."

The practitioner so awakened my thought by firmly declaring statements of Truth that I retained consciousness, but I was still gripped with fear. I had great bodily pain and mental anguish and a fear that I would not live long. The faithful practitioner worked for me vigorously, patiently, and lovingly day and night. Each day I would gain a little courage, but with the approach of night a great unreasoning fear would return.
