After waiting overlong to praise God for His wonderful goodness, I find it hard to select from the many healings and blessings that I have experienced through Christian Science those that may be most helpful to others in their study and application of this great truth. However, as our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us in Science and Health (p. 496), "Your fruits will prove what the understanding of God brings to man," and I am happy to relate the following experience, which continues to be an inspiration to me.

From babyhood through childhood I was afflicted with asthma. It was the constant concern of my parents and brought in its wake a general debility, making me susceptible to every childhood ill, and particularly to colds. It was unusual for even a short period to pass without my being confined with an asthmatic attack, a serious cold, or some other weakening condition.

When I was eleven years old my mother unexpectedly announced that she had been advised to have Christian Science treatment for me and was going to try it. I had no idea what this meant and objected vigorously. Although my mother had heard of this Science, she knew nothing about it, but she had an inherent faith in God and a genuine desire to do the right thing. Her calm faith in its possibilities overcame my objections, and I finally went quite willingly to a Christian Science practitioner.
