When I first started to read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, it was with no thought of physical healing, although the need was indeed great. Having heard that Christian Science would make one happy and contented, I obtained a copy of the textbook and began to read. I became so interested and absorbed in its contents that I could hardly lay it down. After reading it from cover to cover three times within four weeks, I got the Christian Science Quarterly and began to study the Lesson-Sermon daily. Inspiration and comfort were received immediately. I was finding a sense of peace which the world can neither give nor take away. The physical healings came more gradually as the truth of all-harmonious God and of perfect man began to displace the false beliefs of discontent and sickness. Supposedly inherited consumption, chronic catarrh, and severe and frequent attacks of tonsillitis were healed as the truth of being dawned in my consciousness.

During this period we moved to another location where I met some students of Christian Science. It was then I attended my first Christian Science church service, which was indeed a wonderful experience for me. This was over thirty-eight years ago, and since then Science has been our only physician. It has met and is meeting our every need, through the years I have had many other proofs of God's healing presence, some with the help of practitioners, others through my own understanding and application of the truth as taught in Christian Science.

Mere words fail to express my gratitude to God and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for all the blessings Christian Science has brought into my life. For membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, for class instruction, for our periodicals, the lectures, the Reading Rooms, and for a growing understanding of this Science, I am more grateful each daw—(Mrs.) Hattie R.
