Now there has been replanted in the hearts of men a concept of peace that stems from the world's great religions. The representatives of fifty-one governments met at San Francisco, forty-eight of which signed a peace of reconciliation with Japan.
Dispatches told of delegates leaving the War Memorial Opera House in tears after the final words of Secretary of State Acheson, himself quoting a hallowed blessing: "May the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, be amongst us and remain with us always."
