Many years ago my mother took up the study of Christian Science. She said she loved the words "Christian Science" as soon as she heard them. Soon thereafter she received a physical healing through earnest study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

While I was still a young girl, I became interested in this Science through hearing my mother, as well as my grandfather, who was living with us, speak of it. The Bible had been a closed book to me; but through the new light which Christian Science sheds on it I became conscious of a deep interest in what the Scriptural writers had taught, and I was happy to enter into an earnest study of the textbook. For several months I attended services in a Church of Christ, Scientist, with my mother and then had an opportunity to prove the healing efficacy of the truth I was learning.

I had many times been afflicted with severe abscesses in the ear, and now I was again attacked by this same condition. The pain was great, and I was in bed with my head wrapped in flannels. A Christian Science practitioner was called to the house, and as soon as she saw me, she asked, "Do you think those flannels have more power than God?" I meekly discarded them. She gave me a treatment, and I was instantaneously healed. While she was still in the house, I arose and dressed. There has never been a recurrence of this trouble.
